Do’s Of Participating In A GD: 

  • Pen down your points and ideas. 
  • Initiate the discussion if you are sure of the topic. 
  • Let others speak as well. 
  • Be polite and respectful.  
  • Back your points by facts and statistics. 

Don’ts Of GD:

  • Never speak over or interrupt someone. It displays impatience on your part. 
  • Shouting or arguing creates a bad rep.
  • Not taking part in the discussion and showing low self-confidence.

Writing A CV

A CV is a necessity when you are applying for a job, internship, or freelancing. It is a long summarized academic diary of sorts where all your experiences, academics, skills, hobbies, etc. are listed. A CV evinces it possible for you to sell your abilities, experiences, and education to potential employers. 

Rules Of Writing A Top-Notch CV:

  • Your CV should look neat and attractive. All the points should be clearly visible without it looking cluttered or untidy. A methodical CV grabs attention faster than one that has too much information. 
  • Information should have a good flow and must be consistent and stable. Inconsistent fonts look messy. 
  • Never use uppercase words to draw attention to a point.  
  • It is essential that the CV is grammatically correct.   

Content:

  • All the relevant achievements, strong points, interests, skills, hobbies, projects, internships, previous works, etc. need to be mentioned. 
  • While writing about past experiences, include a few lines about the kind of work you did for better clarity. 
  • Be honest and avoid lying or bluffing in a CV. These things can be easily verified and would hamper your opportunities for landing a job.  

Things To Avoid While Writing A CV:

  • Don’t include things you are unsure of. The interviewer might ask them, and you will find yourself in an uncomfortable position.  
  • Mention frivolous topics like net surfing, chatting with friends, etc. 
  • Avoid writing short forms or abbreviations in your CV unless absolutely required.

Preparing For The Interview: 

Prepping for an interview is much more than Googling tips and common questions. The key is to make a good first impression on the interviewer and have proper research done on your target company. An interviewer sees a candidate’s confidence and soft skills at the very beginning which makes it all the more important to hone a student’s life skills through our Skills Development course. 

It is indispensable to know about their products, their goals, and the company’s achievements. 

  • Come well prepared for the interview with proper formal attire, and necessary documents. 
  • Never fail to display punctuality for the interviews.  
  • Be calm and confident while answering the questions. 
  • Your nonverbal skills matter tremendously. Be sure to not be too erratic with your hand movements. 
  • Avoid criticizing your educational institute, family or friends. 
  • Avoid mentioning any wrong information or unnecessary information in the interview. 
  • Never display helplessness or ignorance if faced with a difficult question. Always try to answer them to the best of your abilities or answer truthfully. It is better to admit to your mistakes rather than feigning knowledge. 

At the end of the interview, when the interviewer asks if you have any follow up questions, it is advisable to ask about something that you are unsure of and would like to be clarified. it could be about the aspects of the job role that you wanted clarified, or if it is a general question about the company that is not available on the company website. This would show that you have genuine interest in their company and would put you on good their good side.
